Cells 03:25
the sand falls slowly through the hourglass time's never on my side i want to scream for it to stop but i am powerless to change what's going on inside the cells they are dividing with every single breath every pulsing heartbeat takes me closer to my death i am but perched upon the precipice uncomfortable inclined and though I cannot see the benefit I try to think to clear my mind and yes i'll grow another skin another thin facade to hold my body in now i'm searching for a twin something to bring some meaning and some discipline
the party's over and the day is near we're turning over all the tables here bodies shaking in the bitter wind wishing always for a thicker skin if it must go down, let's burn it to the ground at least there'll be fireworks all the days and nights are gone without a figure now you know just why it hurts we have to leave before the rot sets in hide away all of the empty gin bottles paint right over marks upon the wall i didn't know how far we had to fall
On My Mind 05:35
when i was on the kitchen floor you were first at my front door you have been so kind to me be careful you would always say as i went out to face the day you have been so kind to me write to me when i'm alone because i fear the telephone you have been so kind to me drawing tattoos on our hands plotting on a map our plans this could've been the life for me when you're here in the night and we can't help but fight if you're wrong or right you know i haven't got the time still you're always on my mind message tone at 4am just saying that you need a friend you always could rely on me i didn't want to take the blame but i covered for you all the same you always could rely on me i never told your mum and dad i couldn't bear to see them sad you always could rely on me sneaking round and playing games always trying to hide your shame you only could confide in me
i was smiling having fun now what have i done? there's poison in my mouth again i am losing self-control asleep on my patrol i'm beginning to doubt my friends there'll be no sleep for me no sweet dreams in this psychotropic reverie figures moving through the dark everywhere they make their mark in the shadow of this revelry wires hanging from the walls no-one left to make the call and save us from the mess we made dust gathers on the floor now we can be sure there's nobody who could have been saved save our souls please save our souls
Truth 03:22
you'll take our land, you'll take our homes you'll fake our stories and cast them in stone you'll take our fears and make us an enemy when we've disappeared you'll wipe out our memory and the only lasting point of view is the wool before our eyes that frames the lucky few who know the reason why the shutter's in the shade but the film is on the screen where nothing is explained we don't know what it means but you can't stop us from walking from our houses and homes you can't stop us from fighting with our flesh and our bones you can't stop us from feeling all the love and the fear we'll keep on walking through the blood and the tears
we heading for the end of the evening and my conscience tells me now i should be sleeping but all thoughts of leaving now are fleeting because i know inside there's a thousand hearts still beating reflected it's blinding my senses projected through mirrors and lenses the motion is staggered by strobe light as i seek some refuge from the cold and the dark night i've finally found a place i can be truthful no subtlety of meaning here is useful the purest form of human interaction playing on my own dissatisfaction
Oil & Water 04:09
face in the crowd too loud to be heard afraid of the sound and the power of the word this street is for you and it's true, we defy blood is our fear and the fear will divide like birds of a feather we'd stick together they had no doubt but you push us together and like oil and water we separate out escape from a place where grace is denied adapt to the pace and race to confide sell to who'll buy and try to get by with weight in your name and blame on your side
i'm leaving town in the morning heading for something new much further north where the days are shorter by the skies are blue i was scared to go the distance much more than i had in mind but some respite from this madness is what i seek to find i can't escape that all my friends will make new friends and i will too but nothing can replace what we've done together what we've been through you're asking me the question, why I have to leave? this city was once my saviour, now it's my enslaver i need some space to breathe
